You probably already know this but...

At 24 David Goggins weighed nearly 300 Lbs.
Goggins described why he got so big:
“I wanted to be big because being big hid David Goggins. I was able to tuck this 175Lb person into those twenty-one-inch biceps and that flabby belly. I grew a burly mustache and was intimidating to everyone who saw me, but inside I knew I was a p***sy, and that’s a haunting feeling.”
For Goggins, his weight was a way to hide from the world around him.
This is the motivation for most unhealthy practices.
It's an attempt to hide from the scary world and feel safe. People abuse drugs so they can forget and hide from their worries or eat when they get stressed. The more you hide, the more you prove to yourself you can’t handle reality.
Any form of hiding kills your confidence.
Taking control of your health is one of the most important steps to taking control of your life.
After a chance encounter with a TV commercial, Goggins decided he wanted to become a Navy Seal. But he was too fat. At 6’1” Goggins could only weigh 191 pounds if he wanted to join. He’d have to lose over 300 Lbs in just 3 months to make the cut.
So that's what he did.
Loosing that weight was the start of a new life for Goggins.
He joined the army, became a Navy Seal, and went on to run ultramarathons and become a motivational speaker, inspiring thousands to take control of their lives.
He gained the confidence to do all that after taking control of his health.
Being healthy makes you a more competent person, which makes you more confident.
Competent people are in good shape
I’m not a health expert. I can’t give you a definitive guide to being healthy.
I’m just going to remind you about what you already know. Being fat isn’t good for you. Obesity is more dangerous than smoking.
Getting in shape improves every aspect of your life.
Competent people eat healthy
Competent people are fit
Competent people aren’t addicted to drugs or alcohol
Looking in the mirror and seeing a healthy person is a huge boost in confidence.
Although dressing well and having good posture can make you feel more competent, being healthy actually makes you more competent. Strong, healthy people can run faster, endure longer and lift heavier things.
The list of benefits is nearly endless.
Confidence comes through competence. If you want to become a competent conversationalist, join the Charisma Gym where we have weekly conversation practice.
